Who we are

H.O.B. Limited, registered in Scotland no. SC101065, 17 Douglas Street, Hamilton ML3 0BZ, is responsible for the details you send us through this website (the “controller”). Contact us on sales@hobltd.co.uk or 01698 281 520.

The request-a-quote form and the contact form

If you use the request form we receive what you type into it (name, company, email address, telephone number, details of the part and your message) and any drawings you attach. If you use the contact form we receive your name, company, email address, telephone number, the topic you chose and your message. We use these only to reply to you and to prepare a quotation. Our reason in law is that you asked us to take steps before a contract (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) and, for follow-up questions, our legitimate interest in answering enquiries (Article 6(1)(f)). You do not have to use the form: you can telephone or email instead.

Each form is sent to HOB as an email, and both are handled in the same way, by the same companies, for the same lengths of time, as described below. We do not use your details for marketing, and we do not sell or share them.

Who handles it for us

Sellframe built this website and runs its enquiry form on our behalf. It receives the form, stores it briefly (see below) and passes it to HOB by email.
DigitalOcean provides the server that runs the website and the form, in New York, USA.
Resend (USA) delivers the email to HOB. It keeps a copy of each email it sends, including attached drawings, for 30 days, and then deletes it.

The United States is outside the UK. Both DigitalOcean and Resend state that they participate in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, and UK law allows personal data to be sent to US companies that do (the “UK–US data bridge”).

How long we keep it

The enquiry text is kept on the website server for 90 days, then deleted. A nightly backup copy of that store is kept for 7 more days.
Drawings are deleted from the website server as soon as the email has been sent. If the email cannot be sent, they are deleted after 14 days at most. Drawings are not backed up. Resend’s 30-day copy is described above.
The email HOB receives is kept in HOB’s mailbox for as long as it is useful for the quotation and our records of the work.
Server logs (the page asked for, the time, and your IP address with its last digits removed) are kept for at most 14 days, to keep the website running and secure.

Your IP address is also used, in memory only, to stop one visitor from sending the form many times in a few minutes. It is not stored with your enquiry.

Cookies and fonts

This website sets no cookies and loads nothing from other companies’ servers. Its fonts are served from our own server: Schibsted Grotesk, Martian Mono and Newsreader, each under the SIL Open Font Licence (Schibsted Grotesk, Martian Mono, Newsreader).
